It’s 7.46am in the morningand I have two very excited big boys – today is the day, schools back from summer break!
Breakfast was a rushed affair, piles of cereal and lashings of milk, getting dressed occurred faster than it has at any point in the last 7 weeks, even the cat seemed to be feed quicker than normal.
Unfortunately doing the “must do’s” quicker in the morning doesn’t mean you get to leave the house before the set time. So now I have two excited big boys moping around looking like lost sheep. They can’t wait to get back to the school yard, to share tales of adventures and fun over the holidays, hear their friends stories. They are looking forward to pre-promised activities like their snorkling camp.
The down side to school being back? Long leisurely mornings are a thing of the past again, no more weekday sleep ins, no more lounging around chilling on the couch with a cup of coffee while the kids sleep in. We are back to reality – lunches to be made, clothes and shoes to be found, permission forms to be signed and homework to be completed.
Let the fun, games and learning begin – happy new school year!
